About
why we love
what we do
MSDR Partners exists because people need someone in their corner who sees them as more than an account number. After four decades in this business, working everywhere from small independent shops to large wirehouses, we founded this firm in 2023 to do things the way we believe they should be done: with complete independence, total focus on our clients, and a personal commitment that goes beyond the typical advisor relationship.
Where It Started
Marc Livernois's first client was a 42-year-old widow with six kids at home. She had just lost her husband and was trying to figure out how to move forward. That first client was his mother.
That experience shaped everything about how we approach this work. We learned early that financial advice isn't really about markets or products. It's about people trying to take care of the ones they love, dealing with fear and uncertainty, and hoping someone can help them see a path forward.
Why Independence Matters
Independence means we answer to our clients, not a corporate structure with quotas or preferred products. After 40 years of seeing how different firms operate, we chose to build something where the only priority is doing right by the people who trust us. We're not constrained by someone else's agenda. We can focus entirely on what makes sense for you.
What Drives Us
There's a question that guides every decision we make: What will Marc say to his father when they meet again? How did he treat the people who came to him for help? That's not a business philosophy. It's personal accountability at the deepest level. It means treating your money, your family, and your concerns the way we'd want someone to treat our own. It means being there when things get difficult, not just when times are good. It means being honest even when it's uncomfortable.
Marc Livernois
Managing Member, Owner
I grew up in Detroit, watching working people do everything right and still struggle to get ahead. When my father died at 47—I was one month away from turning 22—everything changed. My mother was suddenly a widow with six kids still at home. She'd been a stay-at-home mom for over 25 years and had no experience with finances. Within days, life insurance agents were calling, pitching products she didn't understand. I watched her try to navigate decisions that would affect the rest of her life, and I realized I could help her. More than that, I realized this could be my career: being the person families turn to when things matter most.
